The Role of Mentoring

When you think of a mentor, what comes to mind?

I've been asking this question often recently, especially with my involvement in Military Mentors (it's a nonprofit for everyone, not just the military!)

Here are some of the responses regarding mentors/mentorship:

- "A good mentor gives me perspective. They remind me I am not alone and the problem I face, someone else has probably gone through."

- "I realized there is no magical mentoring moment. You must be committed to seeking mentors instead of waiting for someone."

- "Mentees can teach mentors just as much"

- "There is a beautiful moment where you realize you have the opportunity to bless and help someone else. That's the power of mentorship"

- "Proverbs 27:17 As iron sharpens iron, so one friend sharpens another."

We feel very grateful as Aaron and I reflect on mentoring opportunities at Edwards Air Force Base. People have helped us see the hope inside of us, challenged us, and reminded us of the importance of community. Our favorite part of this season has been mentoring and helping others as they pursue their passion and purpose. We hope you continue to seek intentional opportunities to mentor others and be mentored...it truly makes a difference.

Favor? Reach out to someone who has mentored you and let them know the difference they have made!

With Love,

Liz
