Excellence and Lions
Happy Fall Y'all! (minus my family on the other side of the world)
While I personally would be fine with summer year-round, I don't mind the opportunity to make chili, wear tall boots and watch some football....while working on papers of course.
Fall represents a season of harvest and many of you have shared new projects you are working on or seasons you are entering. I wanted to share two things that resonated with me over the past month:
1. Don't procrastinate. A professor at my residence mentioned sometimes procrastination comes from a place of perfection. We want our work, idea, event, etc. to be amazing and wonderful and we get overwhelmed. Either we don't ever start or we continue to tinker with it instead of letting go and putting things in motion. We aren't called to be perfect, so just be excellent and let grace do the rest. The worst that happens is we fail and learn something!
2. Run towards the roar. We know that in nature, lions are crafty hunters. With the prey in the middle, a lion sets up on one side, and the remaining pack is on the opposite side. The single lion roars and the prey runs in the opposite direction, right into the pack of lions. We must learn to face what scares us and address what is challenging us.
I know these are easier said than done but wanted to let you know I am cheering you on as you embrace your journey and write your story.
Lots of love,
Liz
