Finding Clarity in Chaos
Life has a way of throwing curveballs, doesn't it? Whether it's the whirlwind of a move, the uncertainty of a job change, or the ache of seeing a loved one struggle, chaos has many faces. It's loud. It's disorienting. And if we're not careful, it can consume us.
"In the midst of chaos, there is also opportunity." — Sun Tzu
I've been there. In the midst of a busy season, I've hyper-focused on the wrong things. I've booked a hotel for the right date but in the wrong city. I've mixed up simple schedules because my mind was tangled in what-ifs and worst-case scenarios. My values—faith, family, leadership—sat patiently on the sidelines while I wrestled with my own overwhelm.
But here's what I'm learning:
The goal isn't to ignore chaos or pretend it doesn't hurt.
It's to study the game tape of our lives. To pause and ask, What am I missing? What can I learn? What is driving me right now?
When chaos comes, it's not an invitation to distraction but a call to focus. To notice the small, beautiful things we might otherwise overlook. To make choices aligned with our values, even when the noise around us tempts us to react instead of respond. To choose.
🌪️ Your Chaos Survival Kit
If you find yourself in a chaotic season, you're not alone. And this isn't the end of your story—it's just one chapter. Here are five questions that have helped me regain my footing:
What's most important right now?
(Am I focusing on my values or my fears?)What am I learning in this season?
(Even in the hard, what wisdom can I carry forward?)What small action can I take today?
(Progress, not perfection.)Who can I lean on for support?
(We're not meant to do this alone.)How can I show myself grace?
(Chaos doesn't need perfection—it needs patience. Ugh, that word again)
🧘 Try This Today:
Take five minutes to practice "chaos breathing":
Inhale for 4 counts
Hold for 2 counts
Exhale for 6 counts
As you breathe, visualize yourself standing calmly in the center of your storm. This simple practice can reset your nervous system when everything feels overwhelming.
Who knows what next week will bring…but please know I am cheering you on.
Keep going—keep focused.
With you in the journey,
Liz
